Idli


Ingredients:

Black gram dhal /Uzhunnu - 1 cup,
Ponni Rice / Idli Rice - 3 cups,
Fenugreek seeds /Uluva - 1 tsp
Water - As required,
Salt - As required
 
 Method:
  • Soak Ponni rice  and Uzhunnu with uluva separately for five hours
  • Wash and grind the gram Uzhunnu with uluva and rice separately.
  • Mix and whip up the batter with your hands until everything is blended well.
  • Cover and allow the batter to ferment in a warm place overnight or about 8-12 hours  until it ferments.
  • After fermenting  , add one tsp of salt or to taste.
  • Pour it on greased idli moulds and steam cook for 10-15 minutes
  • Serve them with Sambar and Coconut Chutney.
