Ingredients:
Urud dal/Uzhunnu- 1cup
Ginger chopped-1" piece
Green chilies chopped-2 to 3 nos
Shallots chopped-6 to 8 nos
Black pepper corns-8 to 10 nos
Curry leaves chopped - 1 sprig
Salt to taste
Oil -to deep fry
Water
Method:
- Wash and soak urud dal for 3 to 4 hours.
- Grind it to a smooth paste without water, if required add little water.
- Add ginger, green chilies, shallots, pepper corns, curry leaves and salt to taste to the ground paste and mix well.
- Keep aside for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Heat oil in a wok. Oil should be hot before putting vada’s.
- Wet your palm with cold water and take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball. Slightly flatten it and make a hole in the center using your finger.
- Put this into hot oil .Cook until it turns golden brown.
- Serve with coconut chutney!!!
