Rava Idli / Semolina Idli



Ingredients:

Rava -1 cup
Curd – 1 ½ cup -2 cups
Green chilly -1
Ginger – small piece finely grated
Grated coconut – ¼ cup            
Carrot – 1 finely grated
Asafoetida/Kayam- 1 pinch
Mustard – ½ tsp
Chana dal – ½ tsp
Urud dal – ½ tsp
Ghee- 1 – 2 tsp
Cashew nuts – few (optional)
Baking Soda – 1 pinch
Curry leaves – as required
Coriander leaves – as required

Method:

  • Heat a pan and add ghee.
  • Splutter mustard and put chana dal & urud dal.
  • Add kayam , curry leaves & green chilly,ginger.
  • Add Rava into it & roast till it become light brown. Keep it aside to cool.
  • In a bowl mix rava with curd, grated coconut, grated carrot,baking soda, coriander leaves ,roasted cashew nuts. Keep it aside for ½ hour .
  • Pour it on greased idli moulds and steam cook for 10-15 minutes
  • Serve hot with tomato chutney.
